WHEN ? 7th December 2012
WHERE ? 'Le Wine Notes’ Rue Notre Dame, Bordeaux
..... A tasting bar hidden away on one of Bordeaux’s many
deliciously French cobbled streets (Rue Notre Dame).
WHAT ?
We tasted Champagne from Thiénot, the youngest of all the french
Champagne houses.
Founded in 1985, Thiénot Group is a family run (led by Alain Thiénot), innovative wine company who have achieved in 20 odd years what most Champagne houses have been striving for since 18th century. Cheers.

>> As for the Champagne itself..... we were equally impressed ! <<
Grape variety: 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier
With a classic fine and clear bead in the glass, the aromas show a
well balanced combination of spring-blossoms and fresh fruit. The taste is akin
to pear and almond tart with classic orchard fruits and a long honied finish.
Our favourite (to compliment the champagne) was a smoked Aubergine
dip served with crunchy wholemeal bread. Anyone who has a good recipe for this dish, let us know!
Not only Champagne...
We had the opportunity to taste a Romanian wine, and I am pleased to tell you that it was a great moment! An animal nose comparable to an old Sociando Mallet, and a great taste of fresh red fruits, very sweet like some South American wines.
..Crazy wine for 16 € only............
Awsome.
There are many such tastings happening all over Bordeaux.
Keep your eye out for where we go next ;)
Thanks for the info...will be heading to this winebar soon!! Great post
